    Default Flight of the snowy

I could not come to peace with myself about loss of the memory cards, so I went back to WA with my friend Luis Villablanca to photograph the owls again. This time I was careful not to lose the cards!

    Here is an adult

1D4 500mm f/5.6 1/4000sec ISO 400. The bird is completely wild, there was no baiting or calls used. Hope you like it

Enjoy the HD version if you have a big screen

I applaud your perseverance. And this picture shows it paid off. Love the detail in the whites, the creamy background and that eye is most exquisite.

Nice wing position and I like to see the legs. The background is nice except the very top darker area. Great flight shot, Arash.

This is lovely. I would be tempted to clone out the dark line at the top of the frame but otherwise no nits. I love the color of the BG. Very soft and creamy. By the time you pay all your travel bills this is going to be one expensive shoot!!

    Arash:

Really great to get them flying, looks like the weather was a lot nicer this time.

I like the comp. with room to fly into, good angle of bird in frame, feathered feet show well.

I appreciate Karl's point about the BG, but I didn't find it obtrusive, the bird is such a magnet for the eyes!

    Cheers

Hi Ari, great flying posture, excellent exposure on the whites, tack sharp all over, and I like the hint of the OOF grasses in the BG.

How far do you travel from your house to this location?

Your larger version is simple stunning. Congrats.

Thanks Sachin, this one did not really need any NR as it was in great light and low ISO ;)

Hi Stu, it's a 2 hour flight from here plus 2.5 hr drive and an hour walk so not bad but the wind and cold temepratures makes it really rough.

Excellent Image Arash. I like to see the legs extended.

Good you went back this week -- the weather is now deteriorating badly starting Sunday.
So you did not relocate your cards - sorry to hear that.
Snow and heavy rain for the next two weeks is forecast.

Congrats on getting back out there, sounds like something I would do...wonderful flight shot, really like the view of the furry feet in direct sunlight. Looking forward to seeing your other images from this second trip.

Love that wing position. You did a great job in catching it right after the take off.

A real beauty of a frame! What I wouldn't have given for a little sunshine and some increased bird activity when I was there.

    Arash,

Looks like my owl, one male was most cooperative. I did look for your cards on my last trip but lots of sand out there. Glad you got back and with good light. Very nice flight shot
