Nice birdscape picture, Jamie. It reminds me to Bonaventure Island Quebec.

Hi Jamie, for me this is an image where you have to be there to appreciate the enormity of scene. Did you get shots of them feeding behind the boat, if so hopefully with a 14 or 16-35 as that is an awesome picture.

    Cheers

Hi Jamie- Never been to to the "Bass". I really like the capture of the flying birds in front of the ones on the cliff. The image would have been stronger if the flying birds were not going away from you. I would have framed out the fence at top right.

I must say I am very distracted by the logo bottom right.

A pretty amazing scene of these gannets, Jamie. It makes it easier to understand what you witnessed with this picture. Were you able to debark? I hope you'll share some of your other gannet pictures as well.

    Thanks everyone.

Steve, I went without a wide angle and will kick myself until I go back in 2013. I had a sigma 10-20 but sold it and never got around to replacing it before my trip. I still cannot decide on a suitable replacement wide angle for my 7D.

John, I think I have to agree now that I think about the logo. Maybe a little too much but thank you for the feedback. This was my first real day of photographing birds in flight so I learned a few things I will apply for next time I visit Bass when I go back to see my folks.

Karl, I would love to visit Bonaventure Island in Quebec one day but it would probs be cost me the same getting there as flying to the UK from Vancouver.

Marina, I have more coming but for now you can see a few more images in my gallery... http://jamiedouglasphotography.com/p546744334 and yes we were able to debark. Was a very close call though and we were very lucky to land that day. Only about 65% of the approx 30 trips a year actually land successfully.

    Thanks folks

    Jamie
