    Default Mesmerising

This is the three month old male Leopard cub, the same one I had posted playing with Mum's (Mom's) tail, his sister was with Mum. The female had killed an Impala the previous night, hidden it in the bushes and then brought it out the following afternoon to feed on, even then it had a strong aroma.

This cub had had his fill and was fascinated by the flies attracted by the carcass in the BKG. The flies had an incredible iridescence to them, as per the one of the cubs ear.

Steve, I missed the earlier shot, but really like the expression of total fascination on the cubs face. Also like the little curled lip and those long, long whiskers. Image quality looks super as is your norm.
    Well done with this one.
    cheers

I too like the curled lip and attentive look at the "flies?" around him.
I dig the shallow DOF, but feel a slight crop from the top might bode well?

    Hi Steve,
I think he was snarling at the flies to scare them off A unique pose for sure.

I am as mesmerized with this image as the cub is with the flies. I really like how the tail leads my eye into the image.

Steve - definitely a different shot. Like the snarl and the way we see all the whiskers. Your usual excellent techs.

Nice idea, I love the look on the youngsters face! Was the cub shaking its head? often the flies bite them and they can get pretty annoyed by snapping at the air! I like the sharp/in focus fly on the ear!

Hi Steve, mesmerising indeed and tells a good story, carcass, well fed leopard cub and annoying flies buzzing about. Expression of the cub is nicely captured.
