I found this rare peruvian endemic in the beach while i was at my girlfriends place last weekend.
The weather was all foggy and cold, so there was no much time for swimming and stuff but i managed myself to get a couple shot of this nice and cooperative individual. Hope you like. Please comments and critique, so i can improve.
The soft light allowed nice details to show up in the bird and parts of the rocks. Nice exposure, sharpness, pose.
From a compositional standpoint, I could see a sliver off the bottom, but OK as is for me.
Really only thing that I would prefer diff. is that the rock/horizon line didn't cut through the birds head/beak area. Sometimes changing your perspective a bit can help there.
This is a good portrait of a bird with a fabulous name.
I agree with all of Randy's analysis, except I would crop from the top because I like the rock.
A step or two either left or right would have placed the bird fully against the rock or the out of focus background. The bird standing on the rock with a clean background would have been wonderful. Of course, it is easy for me to say that when I am at my desk and not on a cold beach stalking a Peruvian Seaside Cincloides!
