    Default Sunrise in Edgartown

Sunrise on a beautiful but cold morning in Edgartown, MA. I think it was around 14 degrees! CS5, levels & curves adjustment on sky to give more impact, cloned out some clouds that were clipped on sides, and removed some houses on the opposite shore, NR, and Topaz Simplify

Great Lighthouse & Sunrise. I like the light and balance. It was worth suffering the 14 degree morning!

This is lovely. The sunrise and lighthouse are very good, but what really captured my eye was the immediate foreground. I really like the subtle pink glow in the water and the early glow of light on the grasses. The delicate details of the grasses contrast nicely with the smoothness of the rest of the image.

Thanks, Mitch, Nancy, and Paul. I'm wondering if I should try and get a bit more detail from the center of the middle band of land.

Brendan, that's a Beauty. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. The backlit grasses in the FG are a great touch. The layers, colors and placement of the lighthouse all work great together. Very well composed and processed. I can almost feel the cold........14 degrees!

Hi Brendan, a beautiful lighthouse image. I really like how the reed grass is rising above the foreground water. Lovely treatment.

Brendan, wonderful image for all the reasons mentioned. Love the balance of lighthouse and sun.

Very, very nice, Brendan. The levels and balance are wonderful. I love the colors and how they intermingle because of backlighting many places in the image. This was a great use of Simplify.

I wouldn't worry about more detail. You've already got those wonderful weeds in the foreground and the features of the lighthouse with the nice glow on the edges. No need to have anything compete with that. It's super just the way it is.

Thanks folks, much appreciated. I did not bring my tripod, and wish I could have tried multiple exposures, but am pretty happy with the detail I was able to get with a single exposure.

Brendan, Very nicely composed and it does look cold! For me the best part are the grasses in the FG. They add so much to the image. Nicely done.

Wonderful point of view and composition. Brave of you to get out on such a cold morning. Your post processing works great!
