Overcast conditions helped with the shadows but colours are a little flat but this bird made up for it with a wonderful display

I really like the wing spread but the best part for me is the colorful BG. Good placement of bird in frame and I love the worn and tattered feathered and the ruffled feathers,

Top class imagery, Craig. Love the wingspread and you exposed it very well.
You can always boost the colour with a little nudge in saturation

Craig, this image is simply outstanding. I love the pastel feeling to the BG, the pose and the comp. This one rocks!

Simply marvelous, Craig! The pose, the detail, the background - couldn't be better in my opinion.

Beautiful, great crop and fantastic intensity. To me the tip of the right wing looks just a touch soft in contrast with the sharp definition of the left wing, but I feel extremely nitpicky even mentioning something like that on such an amazing capture.

My thoughts exactly when I read your comment about "flat" colours. I would also love more room top and right. Excellent pose, and just enough landing platform showing. Impressive image!

Thank you all so much for your comments - much appreciated
Had a five day break at Giants Castle and all the days were overcast and misty. Did not look like I was going to get any shots.
On the last day I took a gamble and went up to the hide, had only 1 hour of brite overcast conditions, after this the conditions went from bad to worse.
The gamble paid off though :-)

Impressive capture of an imposing bird,Craig.
Love the comp against a great bg. A classic from GC.
Agree to up the saturation slightly.
