Thanks everyone for all the help. This is a great group.

    40D. 400 f5.6L at f/6.3. 1/1600s. iso 400. manual exposure for whites.

photographed on Saturday. A gull was attacking this duck. Whenever that happens, they take a short flight and then a quick wing flap after landing. So I was anticipating it. Fortunately, the subject and light angle aligned perfectly. The full-back wing position of the first flap is your best chance of getting sharp wing tips at this SS. lucky my frame-rate captured that moment. All comments welcome.

Congrats on the milestone, and a great way to celebrate it with this excellent capture.

Lovely exposure, sharpness and ducks angle in the frame.

A big congrats and a big thank you for your work on the forum. I love the pose and the "mother of pearl" sheen on the underwing. The exposure is textbook perfect,
