Amazing shot, Jim. Nice of him to sit still enough to capture at 1/8. Good exposure control.

Wow!!! Excellent shot. So sharp despite the shutter speed, love the stare, and excellent comp.
    Well done.

Nice hiding place you found this guy in! Ditto on the comments about sharpness at 1/8, great sharpness considering. Did you use a timer or remote trigger? Lovely colors on this guy. Great find and great capture!

    No timer or remote.

Let hand on top of the lens and eye to the viewfinder from about 30' away :)

Jim, what a shot. incredible colors and sharpness. Great use of long lens to isolate the subject and create an intimate tight portrait.

Beautiful detail for any shutter speed, but particularly impressive for 1/8! Love the alert eyes and red plumage. Wish the tree weren't so OOF but you can't have everything with so little light. Why did you underexpose by a stop? For SS?

    Doug....

Underexposed by a stop so as not to blow the red channel....and it helped with the already pitiful SS

Yeah, you really nailed it. And even more impressive considering the SS - very nicely done!
