Wow, I really like this one. Classic portrait, very nice natural colors, details, well everything..
I´m a fan of the blue/grey background.
I would maybe crop 10% on the coyote left side, just to see how that looks like.

Lovely low angle image...

Hi Dan, I think this is the best of the series with regard to the depth of detail & clarity, very nice in deed. Good, alert pose with a nice facial expression and colours look spot on.
I would like to have seen a bit more room below for the 'virtual' feet, so a slightly wider POV (removing the 1,4x) perhaps would have given you a better perspective, however the stream in front might not have allowed this, or complicated the image? Looks like the D7000 is working well creating some good images.
There is a stream between me and the Coyote so I can get close without it feeling threatened.
Good fieldcraft.

Dan - I agree, this is my favorite of the series. Nice colors and eye contact. I would crop a sliver from the lhs to get rid of the one tall piece of grass and the red berry/flower (?). I also agree with Steve about more room below for the virtual feet. Do you have any including the stream?
TFS,
Rachel

Thanks for the comments. This photo was taken yesterday and is probably not the same coyote I posted a couple weeks ago, sorry if I didn't make that clear. It is in the same refuge (Ridgefield Washington), and general location, so looks similar. The coyote is on a bank of a stream, 20 or so feet above, so I really can't get the stream in the photo.
The BG is a lake filled at the moment with Tundra Swans. They show up in some other shots I took yesterday.

Wow is right! Definitely one of your best, Dan, wonderful IQ, intense expression, love the texture of fur and surrounding habitat. Could see this being published for sure!

Beautiful, beautiful portrait! Love the intensity in the expression, sharpness and cool, soft colors. Plus, he just looks great in Winter coat.
