    Default Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon is about seventeen miles from Las Vegas strip and is an amazing sandstone formation with layers of colors from different geological periods. This I took few years back and is a composite of two images cropped to panorama... adjusted for saturation and then applied pb/oil on the rock face followed by simplify. Hope you like it...

    Hi Indranil
Really nice effects and PP, I may have removed the smaller people in bottom right but left in the larger couple, just two people enjoying the scenery..but that just me

I really like this, Indranil. Your use of PB followed by Simplify gives a great look to the landscape. This is one of those scenes in which people provide a good sense of scale. Although I try to avoid people in my images, I think they serve well, here. It might be interesting to see what happens if you do what Paul suggested about leaving only the nearest couple. I'm not sure which way I'd prefer.

Because the sky plays only a supporting role, I'd suggest reducing the saturation and increasing the lightness of the blue in the image. That'd focus the attention on the rest of the image.

Hi Indranil, love the PB work and the composition too. Those red rocks look awesome. Red rocks are few and far between up here. I could shoot these all day exploring various comps. Nice work!

    Nice image and application, Indranil.

Love the red rocks of the west. My favorite visited area is Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. The lighting changes by the minute it seems and really effects the rock faces. I love the pattern of these rocks as well. I've got to cross the olde Miss again one of these days and get some color in the landscapes, other than green.

Hi Indranil, love the surrealistic look of this one! Great use of the filters and technical work with the composite. Well done!

I like this image very much. I, too, usually don't include people, but they work well here. Your simplify filter did it. Wonderful colors, shapes, patterns, light. Well done.

    Thanks all. I appreciate it!

I too typically do not include people and I had a slightly different idea initially - having them to merge with the bg effect as if stepping in and out of another dimension! Any feedback?

That metaphor is really appealing. For two reasons, I'd suggest not applying it to the nearest couple. That would imply that they're still in this dimension. Also, it would take away the impression that the dark line to the left of his head is part of his hair. It didn't feel that way in the original post without the filter effects.

In this case, I think the people really add something to this surreal image. Really nice processing.
