This is a mature specimen..an immature Blue-faced Honeyeater was posted yesterday..posted for comparison. This species occurs throughout eastern and northern Australia from the Kimberley in Western Australia through the Northern Territory and over much of Queensland, NSW , Victoria and part of South Australia but also in Papua New Guinea. Apart from its extensive range it is found in urban area as well. For a detailed fact sheet see Birds in Backyards website at : http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Entomyzon-cyanotis . Make sure you take the time to hear the sound byte of this species call recorded by Fred Van Gessel.

Nice colours and details. I like the inquisitive pose. Busy setting, but that's what you get in dense habitats I like the perch, vines, and leaf...just not so crazy about the pale lines in upper left corner.

Neat call, thanks for the link...

Rod, I think you did a great job with what you had to work with. This is an environmental capture and your lovely bird has a great pose, has great colors and is nice and sharp. His colors are so powerful that your eyes don't really wander to the BG. I would be very pleased with this one.

Sweet shot of this beauty in its habitat! The eye contact and blue are great. Won't mind seeing a bit more room at the top.
