Wintering American Robin + fascinating behaviour...
Another view of an American Robin next to a watering hole. Compared to my previous post note how aglow the snow has rendered the breast and belly feathers! Normally you'd think American Robins would be at a watering hole to drink or bathe...they all were except for one...he was up to bigger better things than a simple drink. Check it out here:
I love shooting in the winter because of the fill from the snow, really brings out colors and details we rarely see otherwise. The fine detailing on the breast of your robin is a good example.
Sharp and well exposed.
In a perfect world, I would prefer not to have the far shore cutting through the neck, but a minor point. I suspect you were as low as you could go!
Hi Dan, colours always pop so well against snow BG's, and in this, the breast plumage stands out so well. I do like the pose, good eye, and overall placement in the frame.
Beautiful shot, Daniel. The behaviour you captured and explained in your other posting is very interesting.
So the watering hole in fact is a fishing hole. Amazing!!!
