This young Kalahari cheetah cub was playing with its sibling in the golden morning light. Here a fallen tree stump was used as a vantage point to see what the other one was up to.

Like last year, I posted my own personal "Top 20" nature photos from 2012 on my blog. If you haven't yet, would love for you to head on over there and check it out. Drop me a comment on the blog telling me which is your favourite! Click HERE.

As always, a nice one from you Morkel. I like the cubs facial expression, overall details and the nice colors.

Morkel - nice light and I like the curve of the body/pose. My only nit is the green bushes at the top - I wish they were as smooth as the rest of the bg.

Hi Morkel, really like the pose, look and colours on this one. The stance with the slight curvature of the body and the head slightly dropped just adds to the interest of the subject, with the light lighting the eyes nicely.

I see Rachels point about the trees, guess these were slightly nearer to the subject, hence they are more pronounced. I guess you could add a little Gaussian blur to knock them back a fraction, if required?

Sweet image! I love the pose and light. I think it needs some midtones adjustment as in this repost.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone, and for your repost, Ofer. I like what you've done, but might back down on the adjustment for the face and specifically the nose (though you probably did a 'quick job' just for the examples' sake ).
