I like the diagonal line created by the perch and beak.

Nice background and a beautiful bird, Gail. Having the beak separated from the body would be more desireable, but it is still a nice pose.

Gail, liked this a lot...well composed, exposed and super sharp with nice clean BG. great IQ. I also like the diagonal lines.

Very good IQ and exposure. I like the comp, and see why you liked the parallel diagonals. I do like the head turned away from the breeze, but the bill gets sort of lost in the b&w plumage.

I like the shot, ok it would have been ideal if the head was more distinct but it wasn't to be. Regards the exposure it looks good to me though I would have liked to have seen the blacks just a little denser - this can easily be fixed using Selective colour (Blacks>Black +3 and Neutral>Black+2) or a wide Unsharp Mask to enhance contrast juts a little. Alternatively you could just try reducing Brightness or use a curve to lower the highlights. Come to think of it I should practice what I preach - I have just reviewed my snowy owl shot!!

Hi Gail, lovely soft light from what looks like overcast conditions. This in turn has helped with the exposure, on both the blacks and whites, and I would leave the blacks as is. The placement of the Pied works well, and I like the line of the beak looking down the perch. I only wish for more separation of the head. Great BG.

Very nice close up and good IQ, the beak does get lost a bit, but any photo of this species this close
    I am envious of!
