Reworked this from about two years ago shoot with a Canon 50D I had bought the camera to try out and ended up returning it after using it for a weekend at Ft Desoto at the time I did not like the look of the files and decided to keep my 40D. That was a mistake it turn out I just did not know how to work on those files and the engineers at Adobe still needed time to work with that camera to get their conversion software right.

50D, 500 f/4 + 1.4 TC, 1/640 at f/8, ISO 400, Raw, Tripod and small cloning of a branch comomig out of the left corner.

Love the breeding plumage and the tousled chest feathers.

Beautiful placement in frame, feather detail, and contrast with dark background. Some bluish cast in the shadows. I have sometimes desaturated the image on a second layer, masked it out, and then painted over the areas of blue. Would be interested if anyone has a better method. Am also not sure the cast detracts at all as it adds some color to just small areas of the image.
