    Default Outdoor Photographer DVD???

Has anyone else received a package from Outdoor Photographer magazine which included a Photoguide DVD?? There is an invoice that states you can select to receive future DVD's for $12.95 per copy or remove the DVD from the case and place it in a non-stamped envelope and return it. There is disclaimer toward the bottom of the letter that states you can choose to keep the DVD as a gift. Does anyone know if this is a scam? Very weird, will they try to bill you if you don't send it back? Is this even legal???

I've received a woodworking book much the same way. They can't charge you for it or automatically throw you on a subscription. You can keep the DVD and not worry about returning it. It's another marketing ploy to get you to subscribe by throwing promotional content your way.
I kept the book since I didn't want to be bothered with having to take it to a post office to send back. I never received anything else about it or a bill from them.

I don't think ... No, actually, I'm almost certain I never received the DVD. I do remember getting the original information, and I thought one had to actually say they wanted one. In any case, I recently got a notice saying they'd sent me the DVD and never heard from me, so I should send back the DVD or the money. Whereupon, I sent an e-mail to the address on the notice and made it plain that I never wanted the DVD, wasn't going to send them any money, and couldn't remember ever getting it, so I couldn't send it back. In a couple days, they replied, saying that was fine.

    So, I guess, no worries.
