Another from my 2009 trip to the Timbavati Game Reserve in South Africa. Taken just after dawn. I'm sure some will suggest converting to b&w but I like the bit of red in the manes. I know the bg is busy but the zebras chose to stand in front of the trees.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

I like the juxtaposition of the zebra's heads.

Though they may have chosen to stand in this location with this BG Rachel, that does not mean the image works. I find the BG a large distraction.

Thanks Robert and Harshad for the honest comments. I'll just have to go back to Africa and try it again .

Hi Rachel. I agree with the comments above, the BG is a bit of a distraction, but this has never really bothered me big-time since I have to contend with this a lot too . That being said, the BG will probably stop this one from being a show-stopper in a gallery, though it's a nice record shot from your trip. I would be tempted to make the zebras stand out a bit more by adjusting the white point as the whites overall look a tad grey to my eyes. Simultaneously toning down the BG some more through a lumo mask should make them pop a bit more?
