Some respite from the great Mammals posted here.
Another Nutria, this one 100 yards from the Pacific Ocean on the Neoconicum river.
They are multiplying rapidly and are everywhere in the Pacific Northwest.

Dan - nice low pov and good detail. I like the hint of red peeking through at the mouth too.

Good call on changing the species Dan, nice to see variety.
Great depth of detail and love the overall colour. Although a tad tight, a 'pano' crop could also add another alternative to the image. If this is a regular visitor and seems happy to be at close quarters with you (as I see you used a 300f/2.8), then providing it is safe to do so, a set of chest waders would be ideal to get that 'ideal' POV.

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
I could go with some crop off the top, but not an actual pano Dan.

Great image, love the detail and well exposed, agree that some off the top may be an alternative.
Dan,
You are getting better and better. I love the undulations in the water above the head and would not crop it at all. The IQ and details in the fur are just great. I also like the reflection. 10 out of 10 from me!

Very nice image Dan. Is this a relative of the beaver or of the otter?
I would like to see you try that "ideal" POV that Steve suggested![]()
Thanks for the comments.
Morkel, the title is misleading, I was being a bit sarcastic.
The Nutria is actually a large Rat!
Imported from South America for some kind of fur business, it has since been let loose and is a pest
in North America.
It is photogenic, however, until you see the Rat tail!

Great image, love the detail
Very nice. Like everyone else I like the light, smooth water background and details. Well done.
