    Default Nuthatch

A local bird to me taken at a small feeding station I have going.
Taken between rain showers with just enought light at the right time.

    Paul:

A big welcome to BPN! It is a great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer.

A classic nuthatch pose, sharp, well exposed. Nice background.

The perch is a bit massive for this little fellow. If this is a setup, I would consider trying a small perch placed near the feeder, which is a bit smaller, so that it doesn't overpower the subject.

There are lots of good examples of setups shown on the site. Alan Murphy for one does a great job selecting perches to go with his subject. If you do a search on his name, you will see some of his work.

    Look forward to more!

Please include your camera and post processing info so we can better critique your image!

    Cheers

Hi Paul, another big welcome from me, and I like your comp in this. Goog 'hanging' pose looking into space, and I like how the head is separated from the tree trunk. Overall sharp, with a good OOF distant BG.

Typical but excellent pose from the nuthatch. The techs look (don't forget to include them in your subsequent threads) and the subject is sharp - superb IQ. I actually love the perch and find that it frames the subject nicely. Only thing I would do is use a 20-25% opacity clone stamp (using a soft brush) to blend the palish streaks in the BG, as I did here. Looking forward to more from you!!
