    ... an American Bald Eagle about to strike a floating Gizzard Shad along the shores of the Mississippi River near LeClaire, Iowa. Capture made with a Nikon D300, 300mm f/2.8 and 1.4x teleconverter.

    Great pose. Nice HA. Maybe you can lighten the dark parts of the wings a bit.

    Awesome first post Frank!! Love the hunting pose and the tail touching the water, and the techs look spot-on. A version without the floating fish would be an option to consider. I would prefer a different crop though - an horizontal with more room right and above (and a wee bit more at left), and with a bit less below.

    Great stuff, looking forward to more!!

    A big welcome to BPN! This is a great place to hone our nature photography.

    Please feel free to comment on other folks images, it is a great way to train your eye and help with your own photography as well.

    Good comments from above. Daniel has a number of good points. Removing the floating fish is a good one, as well as trying the different crop options.

    It is always helpful to include any post processing details such as what software, any special treatments, etc.

    Look forward to more.

    Hi Frank, a big welcome from me too, and hope to see you participating on the forum. Good pre-strike pose, and I agree with the others regarding the comp and removing the fish. I would also selectively sharpen the head, body, and feet.
