Nice setup and equally nice shot, Jim.
Love the smooth background, pose and the perch is the right size for the bird.
I have a feeling that we met at Fifty Point this spring. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Thanks for the kind comments Karl. I have never been to Fifty Point so it must be someone else you met. Is it a good birding location?

    Jim:

Lovely colors, well exposed, nice BG. Interesting perch.

I might do just a bit more sharpening on the head.

    Cheers

    Jim:

This is an alternative rotation to consider. I find the original pose a bit "static" for want of a better term, and thought by rotating it that the perch and the bird worked on a diagonal, perhaps a bit more lively?

The image quality slipped from my manipulation, but I really just wanted to show you the idea of a rotation as an option. You can do better with the original.

    Cheers

Thanks Randy! I never thought about rotating the image. Your repost does fill the frame nicely.

Very nice, Jim. Like the eye contact, great BG and like the crooked shape to perch. Randy's post is also a nice option.

I ended up with this rotation and sharpened the head a little more.

Sorry Jim, it was an other Jim then. Yes it is in spring migration and late fall.
It looks like the rotation was a great idea.

    The repost is excellent,Jim !
Just shows what can be done with an already excellent image.Good sharpening of the head. The only thing I find a bit distracting is the light "band" on the branch ,left of the bird.

Repost is excellent Jim. I would tone down the bright band in the wood to the left of the bird. Excellent idea of Randy's to rotate branch. Lovely BG and beautiful feather details,
    Gail
