Love the beautiful background, the eye-level capture and the straight-on stare. I normally wouldn't go for the bird right in the center of the frame, but here it works nicely for me. But I might consider trimming a bit off the left with a corresponding amount added to the right, which would take care of the strange line along the left edge. Was this taken at Cape Coral, or do you have these guys at your end of Alligator Alley?

Thank you for your comments! I'll fix it, I'm sure it will look much better. This little Burrowing Owl was at the "Brian Piccolo Park" in Broward, FL. There were dozens of nests, it was a treat going there!

Love the shot, original composition and it tells a story just look how cute and lovable. The vertical crop is perfect and love the feet and perch. Agree with Bill on the dark line a very easy fix.

Was it easy to get close to these guys, I have never had the opportunity. Just curious since this is an educational forum how are you using the Nik software, nice post.

One of my favorite plug-in is Color Efex Pro from Nik Software. From color Efex, I choose the tonal contrast and detail extractor to improve the look of the feathers and/or the eye, most of the time; I use also the Lighten/Darken Center to guide the viewer to the place I want, since I can choose where to place the center and I darken the surrounding of my focal point. If the image has noise, I use the DFine, also from Nik.

These little owls are so curious! I was seated on the floor and they came out of their nest and start looking at everybody! When they have babies, the are so funny to watch them, they play around, and you can be 8-10' of them! I can't wait to go visit again in the Spring to see the little ones!

I love this owl! Great pose with the eyes glaring right at us. I wouldn't change a thing.

Mirenchu, lovely post. I like the BG colors, good DOF. What do you think about a slight amount of spot lightening of the shadows in the eyes? Great sequence in pane #5. TFS.
