I was thrilled to get this image... The focus isn't as crisp as I'd like... but hey... It's the first "Air Interaction" between two of these guys that I've come close to capturing.

What I like: Bird interaction of course, bird/bird separation, bird(s)/tree seperation... (The image had just a bit of help there as I did some very selective pruning to "un-encumber" the front great egret's left foot from a bit of tree branch.)... and I like the light.

What I don't like: Focus not quite where it should (could) be.

    40D & 100-400 @ 160mm, ISO 500, f5.6 @ 1/1000, 7:25pm

    Very curious what y'all think...

    Thanks for looking!

    Hi Steve,

I love the interaction between your birds. You should be thrilled. On my monitor the exposure doesn't look quite right, but a very neat image. Looks like Venice??

Nice action but looks over saturated on my monitor.

Diane... Exposure too hot? Didn't alter it that much... Actually taken in Dallas, TX.

Judy... I didn't do much at all to the saturation.

Thank you both for your comments!

Nice interaction here Steve. I particularly like the pose of the left hand bird as it almost grabs a tail feather from the other bird. Was this taken in the early morning or evening?

It is a very nice shot, agree with the saturation, but that is subjective, ifuse a medium eyedropper in curves on its legs and it goes away as well as the slider in saturation. Your sharpness problem is not sharpness it is the F5.6, no DOF, shoot at 7.1 and your sharp.

Great interaction and setting. I might tone down the whites a bit and apply some NR on the BG.

Interesting capture. The blues are very dominant in this image.

Neat interaction. I agree with Axel on the processing and would also see what it looks like if you bring up the mid's a bit.

Thank you guys for looking and commenting. Will re-visit my PP and see what I can do.

Philip... Will keep your feedback in mind about f stop and DOF as I would really like to NAIL a shot like this sometime.
