    Default A Bosque Snow Goose

I thought I'd try a square crop for this Snow Goose image from the Bosque. Square crops are not my favorite, but it seemed to work well for this bird (the Goose had drifted to the left of center of the frame).

Doug whites look on the edge on my monitor which is not calibrated...but really loved the BG, Landing pose and composition.

Hi Doug, cool forward wing position, and interesting to see the two different shades of white between the head and neck, and the top of the wings. Pastel colours of the BG look good. Im not too keen on a square crop either, and feel a vertical will work just as well.

Love the pastels, Doug! I'm sure someone will find something to tweak, but I like your work here!

Square crop works well for this image. Beautiful BG colors. Whites look just a tad hot here as well.

Great picture. Nice colors in the BG. Square crop is OK for me, I think it can be used more often.

I am not loving this shot. I find the 2 shades of white in neck and wings a bit off putting. I find myself wondering -is this the correct color or is the image off? I do like the unusual pose and the feathers that are lifted by the wind. But the whites keep bugging me. Great pastel Bosque BG.

Lovely capture Doug. Beautiful BG, great detail in the wings, and awesome pose. I'd be interested to see vertical just to see if it flies.

Hi Gail. Appreciate your honest feedback. The 2 shades of white are correct as best as I can tell. Here's a 100% RAW file crop for comparison.

Hi Stuart. I could have gone vertical, but this is full frame top to bottom. It would've required adding canvas, and I didn't take the time to do that. Maybe I'll rework it.

+1 for a vertical crop . Lovely pose , but I am surprised that a 1/2000 still leaves a wing blur . Next time , I will have to keep that in mind when I shoot BIF.

    Hi Doug,
Thanks for taking the time to show me the RAW colors. I guess it is the way the light light up the feathers then or the feathers are different whites IRL.
A very Happy New Year to you and your family and I want to thank you for the help you have given me over the past 6 months. It is greatly appreciated,
    Gail

Fantastic pose and equally fantastic background, Doug. Love it!!! Even the unusual square crop goes well with the pose.

Wonderful flight shot. I really like the angle of its flight, lovely light, whites exposed real well, and I love the background.
    Well done.
