This is the closest I've gotten to a Loon yet and I'm hoping to get more. The sun was barely up for this shot .I just wish I was able to light up the body a tad more. Now I just need to visit Michigan to get one in breeding colors with a baby.

    Cheryl:

This fellow makes me wish for the return of summer. I do think I have heard of a few loons in Michigan

Good timing on the drip, good eye contact. Fill flash would have helped with brightening the body.

Good shooting angle, like the ripples. Looks like perhaps it needs a sliver of CCW rotation.

    Cheers

Hi Cheryl, These look back poses always work well, and I like your low angle of capture. Great eye, and as Randy stated, well timed on the dribbling droplet.

Very nice comp. Agree with a touch of CCW rotation. Fill flash would have helped here and solved the problem of light on the body. It is nice to see a picture of a non breeding male- different!
