This was taken in 2009 at my friends finca in Costa Rica. The hummingbird is coming into a feeder. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

Excellent. I just wish the tail was as sharp as the rest.

Jim, very nice colors, both on the subject and the background. I like the wing position, and the head angle. I suppose it would be difficult to get a sharp beak with any other head angle! Even though the eye is in the center of the frame, the composition feels nicely balanced to me. I agree that more sharpness on the tail would be a plus, but I really like the image.

That's pretty good light for Costa Rica Jim. The Hermit is so long that without multiple flashes, it's just about impossible to get the whole bird in focus. Detail looks a little coarse, but I'm spoiled because the only photos I have of the species are f/14 and 1/10,000. I might darken the BG above the bird's head.

Great pose and detail Jim. You captured the metallic glow very well.

Hi Jim, good use of flash, and you have brought out the green iridescence very well. Lovely hovering pose with the raised wings, and I like the green BG too.
