One crazy looking duck! That bill! I have seen them but never photographed them - a bit soft to my eye but well done getting this species.

Nice shot, but have to agree it looks a tad soft to me also. The bill looks ok but the head a tad soft.

Good low angle and love the splash of pink. Agree with softness of head. Needs a bit of CW rotation,

Neat duck, the odd bill and pink patch on the head make for unique fieldmarks! An extra round of sharpening and some CW rotation will nicely complete the image.

    Hi Chris,

I sure wished i had seen this gorgeous Duck during my stay over in Australia. UNfortunately i missed out on it so i am glad to see you posting such a wonderful shot.
Do have to agree on the lack of sharpness but that is easily overcome with a bit of post processing.

    greetings,

    Jeroen Stel

Real nice shot. I really like the shooting angle, great looking duck, but do agree with the nits. Still a great shot though.
    Well done.

Thanks everyone. I given the duck another round of sharpening.

Daniel, as for CW in this frame the duck is paddling slowing past, checking me out, and as a result looks slightly front heavy. When they paddle quickly they really look like they are are taking on water. They are filter feeders and I believe this floating position aids in their feeding.

Nice low angle. Light wasn't great but you did well considering. Needs a CW rotation as mentioned by others. It can easily be seen by the ripples.

Very cool looking duck, TFS. I agree w/ the rotation already mentioned by others and the additional sharpening. Nice low angle and calm water!
