We had a great year for fighting bighorns on my "Battling Bighorns" tour I just finished up yesterday. This is just after impact and the ram on the left went right down.... Shown full frame!

What a dynamic action shot. I really like the spectator ram. The snow in the grasses really adds to this image.

Great action, well captured! So was the one on the right only a spectator?

    Dale,
thanks for including me on the trip. I have thawed out a bit. hit some ice on the trip back on South pass, and arrived late yesterday night. i still have to edit and process and I look forward to posting some images, including at least one shot of the somersault after impact image. I think Lillian got the best one of that battle.
Looking forward to more times together.
    thanks again.

    Hey Rachel,

Actually the ram on the right was one of the combatants. He and the one going down had just crashed heads together.

Thanks Dale. I thought maybe the one on the far left had struck the blow due to his head position. Glad you saw such great action.

Really captures the power of this ritual. That's a good sized ram to be putting down.

I too thought the left-most ram was the victor - looks can be deceiving
Great action and soft light here Dale. Would love to photograph these guys going at it one day...
