Magpie-lark (Grallina cyanoleuca) Cairns Esplanade Queensland
Canon EOS 7D Lens 400mm L USM ISO 400 F6.3 1/320 available light 13 July 2011
While in Cairns the tides were against me so I did not get images of waders, however on the northern end of the Esplanade a drain spills fresh water onto the beach. This proved an great asset for this lazy photographer. This Magpie-lark was drinking and then decided to wade into the water ..stood still a moment then leaped into the air and then plunged head first into the water. Here it is in mid-leap. Amazing the water was only a couple of inches deep so no heed of the danger about diving into shallow water !!
Thanks for viewing
