    Ian,

I like the pose and head angle. The rose colored clouds are cool too.

I am not seeing great detail in the feathers, was it a little underexposed?

I would do some dodging to selectively brighten the eye.

Ian, I agree with Joel's critique. Was this a large crop?

    Ian,

Good looking pic really like the flight angle and nice job with placement in URHC. Could be sharper but BIF are challenging I almost always shoot them wide open - for fastest possible shutter speed - but thats me. The soft sky in the back complements the subject just curious did you run any noise reduction. I am keen on the flight position too nice open wing flight image - thanks for sharing - happy holidays.

Thanks, all. Yes, this is a bit of a crop (~50% of full). I ran a little NR on the BG (Noiseware pro). Jeff, I wrestle with aperture on BIF. If I shoot wide open, it gives me no room for focus error, but improves SS. If I stop down a little bit (f/6.3 or 7.1), I have a little focus leeway, but lose SS.

    Happy holidays to all.

    Ian,

I still see noise in the background and continue working on sharpness, it is a critical part of bird photography.
