This was taken in Costa Rica. The light was a real challenge and fill flash was used. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

    Jim:

Excellent and subtle flash use. Sharp for the SS you used, nice BG, excellent head angle for look back pose, like seeing the one foot.

Very well done under challenging conditions.

    Cheers

Excellent use of fill. Love the Bg and how it compliments this beautiful subject. Might take a bit off the bottom.

Superb in my book. Love his look back, his foot curled on the perch, sharpness, colors and your silky smooth bg. Did you smooth it somehow? Really a pretty image!

Thanks Grace for your kind comments. The BG was distant and only ran some NR on it.

Hi Jim, super pose showing off the head and beak nicely. I like the DOF and feather detail captured, sharp, and the colours look great. Well done with the subtle flashwork. A fine image.

Like everything about this image; perch, pose, sharpness, and BG. All the more impressive considering the SS. Good job!

Thank you for answering my question, Jim. Is that you that I see reflected in his eye? I really love this image!

Fantastic image Jim! Conditions perfectly handled. Was the parrot lured onto the perch, or did it land there by chance? Either this is a real winner of an image

Thanks for the comments Daniel. The parrots lived in a tree cavity beside the house. Every night they would come back. I assume it was the male that would perch close by until the female was inside the cavity, where she would stay for the night. He would stay in the area until dark and then fly away. In the morning he would come back and they would fly away together. I enjoyed my time with them and will return to Costa Rica in two weeks. I hope they are still around the house.
