    Hi Richard

Merry Christmas to you as well...

I love the strong bold colours and the "in ya face" attitude. The eye and immediate surrounds are beautiful and 'sharp as' but not sure why the red detail beyond that look patchy... Is it a DOF issue or is the red channel clipping? not sure. I would also work a bit more on your post processing around the beak just above the claw where you have I think removed (most) of an ant or two, forgot the third and left a white background. I would put back the colour as if the ant was not there. Finally can you crop to put the eye in the upper RH third...? Just a thought

    Have a great Christmas

    Thanks for posting

No ants were harmed or removed?

Have tried improve beak area above claw

Reds are a real pain but hey the eye is nice!
