Super close up Rachel, the whiskers look great and the IQ and focus and detail is really good.

Hi Rachel, the comments above say it all, great detail, like the 'high key' feel, but having the slight twisted mouth/lips makes this for me. As I said before, the images you have taken a while back were good, all you needed to do was to grow your PS skills which has certainly developed over the year and this image is a testimony, well done.

Before I say more Rachel, I am good with this as presented but do have some suggestions.

I think zooming out a bit would have lessened the tightness of the image I feel - especially at the head. With that BG, more canvas in PS could be used if you were so inclined.

I would also try lightening the giraffe somewhat. I feel increase its luminance will be appealing.

I echo Steve's compliments on your processing skills, and the expression is really cool. I am into "high-key" at the moment so I enjoy that aspect too...couldn't help pulling this one into PS for some B&W experimentation...
    WDYT?

Thanks Robert and Morkel. Robert- I'll take a look at the luminance and play a bit with it.

Morkel - wow! I love the b&w conversion you did. I am somewhat embarrassed to say it had not even crossed my mind to convert this.

    Thanks again to you both,
    Rachel

I like the twisted mouth and prefer the Op to the B & W but that is a personal taste issue. Excellent IQ in the whiskers and fur. well done,

Thanks Vivaldo and Gail. Here's a repost with the giraffe a little lighter as suggested by Robert.

    Thanks again,
