I posted an image of an Ostrich chick a little while back. Here is one of the chicks from the family taken a little while later. I was parked on a rise, and as they were strolling through the grasslands towards me, I just waited for the right moment to capture the shot. Taken in a nature reserve, early morning close to my house two weeks back.

Beautiful image! Lovely light and colours, sharp with good detail, awesome pose and eye contact. The habitat puts this over the top for me. If anything would crop a bit off the bottom to get rid of some of the OOF area and add some on the sides to get the sacred 2:3...

Ofer, Thanks a stack for your feedback and suggestion on the bottom. Here is a repost cropped up from the bottom, but decided to leave the sides as is. I also didnt want to take too much off the bottom, so as to leave some room for the virtual feet.

    Stuart,

Great stuff, another one of those things not enough attention is paid to, I think you have plenty of foot room

    Hi Stuart,
I love the pose of this little guy. I really like the repost. I like the colors of this guy's feathers as well but the best is the curve in the neck and the lowered head that gave this lovely pose. Nice POV as well. No nits from me,
    Gail

    Stuart:

This one works very well, love the feather (fuzz?) detail, the curved neck with head clear of body, little punch of color from the flowers, BG, catchlight.

    The repost is stronger compositionally.

    Cheers

Cool looking bird and I like the pose. Repost works nicely for me as well. I like that leading leg. Even though young it shows how powerful they can be. Very well done.

Amazing image Stuart!! I love the habitat, those flowers are a fantastic element to have here (both the yellow, and the purple ones). Repost perfects the comp. I just wish the mound directly below the neck was not there, but that was just a bit of bad luck.

    Two thumbs up from me!!

Stuart: Sorry to be late in the thread. The repost is spot on. The habitat and bird sharpness contrasted with the BG softness AND the pose ...WOW !!
