I like these shots showing bird s in natural habitat. i think you have done a very good job optimising presentation. Just about the only thing I would suggest would be to lower the brightness on the fern and lichens.

    Richard:

Good timing! She is a beautiful bird indeed. Struck by the form of her coverts, they look like delicate leaves.

Yes to a busy background, and I agree with Jonathan about trying to tone down some of the brighter components in the foreground and background.

She is turned away from us, and a head angle more our way would have helped.

I might try a version with the catchlight simplified a bit, it is rather fractured.

    Cheers

I agree with the gents above, and also too bad aqbout the OOF FG branch. Having said this I do love the tropical forest feel that you nicely managed to get here, and the colours look great.

Nicely framed. I can't imagine ever finding this bird nicely sitting in the open with a clean BG! I might try to clone out the two small catches in the eye.

It can be a real challenge to find a Quetzal on a clear perch! I like the behavior captured and the nice color. The OOF foreground branch is somewhat distracting, as is the diagonal one behind the head. I'll be in Costa Rica in a month, but unfortunately no Quetzals on this year's itinerary (unless we get lucky); that'll have to wait for next year.

Sorry for late reply, thanks for comments. I do have the shot with HA but no Avacado! I was surprised to see her gulp down the fruit so fast
Good luck in Costa Rica Doug
