This is great. I really like the colors -- RBG big time! The background colors, themselves, are appealing enough, but the diagonals they form -- intersecting behind the macaw -- is a great touch. With a close-up like this, the curves of the beak and head take center stage. The detail in the macaw and the tonal range of the feathers are wonderful. I even like the fact that its eye is closed. Depending on how one looks at the image, the closed eye gives it a more abstract appearance. Or, if one takes it all in quickly, the nostril appears to be an eye and gives a comical look. Something for everybody . . .

In fact I do have the same shot with an open eye! but preferred this one as it seems to personify his happiness catching the sun's warmth

Richard, Nice job with the capture. Agree the head is blown, I might also tone down the whites around the eye. This has a nice almost abstract look to it.
