Shot as a vertical and almost full frame. Cropped by 5 % on left and bottom for composition.

I like the direct gaze and a typical housecat pose. I felt like saying "here kitty, kitty, kitty..."
I may have a bit too much contrast here. What do you think?
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

Nice regal pose here Gail, yep....one BIG house cat indeed!
Contrast looks ok for mine, but could do with some warming up as seeing a slight magenta cast, only slight.

As Marc has mentioned, nice pose on this beautiful cat. Contrast and exposure look good on my end as well. Well done. TFS

    Nice pose and very sharp.
    The contrast looks fine

Great pose, and I like the sunlight in the trees behind

I would agree with warming the image slightly and possibly a tighter crop.

Thank you all for your insightful comments. Here is my repost with warmer colors, decreased magenta and cropped a bit tighter. I hope you find the image improved

Gail, I've come back to this image a couple times and have the same conclusion each time, so here goes. There's alot happening in the background. The top is "branchy" and the bottom bright. I feel as if a tighter crop would minimize both these areas (and then you'd have to come in a little from the right as viewed to balance), and you'd still have plenty of habitat left. With the 7D I would think you'd have plenty of pixels for this to hold up. I really want my eye to linger on the cat, and I think this might be worth a try. Let me know what you think.

    Hi Grace,
I value your opinion highly and have reworked this as you suggested. I also cloned out the horizontal branch on the left of the leopard. I think it was the most distracting branch of all. What do you think?

Beautiful cat, Gail, and repost looks really good, IQ holds up well - Good suggestions, and we get an even better look at that great face and expression.

    Gail,

I have to agree on the BG in the OP, much too busy and cluttered but this is what you get most of the time. Unless there is a handy termite mound for it to stand on

The final repost is best yet, but I still see a slight magenta cast.

So glad you cropped in tighter. My first thought was "too many branches, too busy to allow me to appreciate that regal cat"
but then, you have what you have. Such sights can't be posed. The pp work helped soooo much.

Last RP is the best, removal of the slight cast certainly makes the Leopard/coat 'pop' and lifts the face a faction. Like that warm light coming through the bush, good call.

The last repost nails it for me Gail...lovely pose and POV, I don't mind busy BG's in Africa too much, as Ken said it's all too common except on the plains of East Africa, Busanga, Central Kruger, sections of Savute marsh and in the Kalahari/Etosha

The warmed up, tighter 2nd repost works really well for me. Nice clean look at the leopard while still including a sense of the habitat.
