This image is a few frames after a previous post of the this Pied Kingfisher bashing his breakfast against the perch to soften it up before swallowing. Neatened up the catchlight in the eye. Taken at 6.19am 6 weeks ago in the Pilanesberg Nature reserve. Im off there tomorrow to hopefully get a few more action shots similar to this.

It's a fine shot Stu, I like this even more than the previous, I like everything from the exposure to the composition and the pose. i think the sharpening on the bird is just about perfect, on the branch - just maybe, maybe a tad overdone???
I have a suggestion, on looking at the whites I get the impression they are slightly yellow, (the cheek) after downloading the image and performing levels I adjusted the white balance using the white dropper, I think the whites became a little cleaner.

Nicely composed image. Sharp, excellent detail, exposure looks spot on and a sweet BG. Perch is a bit massive but not too bad.

Another beautiful pied kingfisher. Beautiful BG and head position. Love that fish. Perch is a bit overwhelming but that is a minor nit,

Beautiful image. The BG, Perch and Fish all add to this image. You exposed both blacks and whites very well.

Hi Jon, thanks for your observation on the whites of the cheek. I checked as well, and you are correct in saying there was a touch too much yellow. Here is a quick repost by selecting the cheek area and desaturation the yellows.

Thanks to everyone else for your feeback and comments.
