    Default Western Grebe

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Taken at Bosque Del Apache.
Two were present on 30th of November (my second day) and were gone by next day.
Full size no crop at all. I prefer this shot over the ones turning their head towards me since turning the head created a shadow on the neck.
    Thanks for looking.

Camera Model Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
    Shooting Date/Time 11/30/2011 2:28:15 PM
    Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
    Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/2000
    Av( Aperture Value ) 6.3
    Metering Mode Spot Metering
    ISO Speed 320
    Lens EF500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x
    Focal Length 700.0mm
Active focus square: top row far left sitting on the head.
I almost forgot to say the the high shutter speed was elected as I was shooting hand held.
(The luggage with the tripods did not arrive up until the third day)

Really nice Karl. That eye is great. Would have liked a slight more head turn but this works. I really like the water droplets. I see a few dust spots though. OOps

    Thanks Cheryl.
I have this at two locations as all of the processed ones; the original subdirectory and under TO POST.
I corrected one just temn minutes ago and went ahead and posted the other one by mistake.
    One of those days.

Nice profile shot of this species Karl. I might wish for a lower profile shot if possible. Nice vibrant red eye that stands out well against the black.

Well exposed Karl, and I like the fine plumage detail on the top of his head. The eye does stand out, and even turning his head ever so slightly back towards you would have worked. I do like the droplets all over his body.

Sharp with excellent detail. Agree regarding the lower shooting angle, head turn and feel the bird is a bit big in the frame as presented.

Very good IQ but I wish for a lower HA and a bit more head turn. Very nice droplets on feathers and wake around the bird,
    Gail
