Congrats on getting this guy so close, in perfect pose, with full length visible. Light on the bird looks good to me. Nice comp. A great moment, for sure! Only wish, in a perfect world, would be for the BG to be a little less busy and the end of the tail to stand out better. But just to get him as nicely as this is a real coup. I saw one at just about the same spot on the road last year, but mine perched further back and my poor shot lacks the good IQ of this one.

BG is busy but nowhere to run, this is the most unobliging environment as you know
I have more so stay tuned; seldom do they show like this.
Did you get Long tailed Silky in the area by any chance?
I got to see the Long-tailed Silky, just up the road a bit. But he was perched on the other side of the road, in the early morning with the sun right behind him. So all I got was a terrible record shot.
Looking forward to more of yours.

Nice head angle and of course, bird. Sharp. Something between the two posts would work for me as the repost is too light. I'd evict the vertical stick to our right of the bird if it were mine.

Nice image Richard! I will be there in a month and hope I am as lucky to find one. I like the long tail, HA and pose.

The bird is a delight. The BG wasn't your choice but maybe you could darken some of the brighter spots even morethanyou did.

Striking natural history documentation. The original image is preferred. Although I've only used the technique sparingly, you may consider my previously mentioned lasso tool approach on the background here.

Richard I think the latest is a big improvement, prefer the overall brighter image, you caught the tail very well.
