    Default Golden Eagle Juvenile

Hi everybody, after my first post of Red-backed Shrike I want to show you one of my favourite pics in my archive. Maybe nothing artistic, but a wild Golden Eagle it's not so easy to approach specially here in southern Italy where this magnificent raptor is not so common. Waiting for you comments.

Hi Saverio, Interesting pose and obviously alert to something above him. Good DOF, sharp with good feather detail, and I like how the eagle is separated from the BG.

Could you please post the rest of your techs - aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and maybe the Focal length. It helps us to see how you created your image.

    Hi Stuart,
it looks you know birds very well! In fact it was looking at a Sparrowhawk flying above its head.
Here more details about the shot:

    Canon 40D + Canon EF L 100-400 @ 375 mm
    f/8 - 1/800 sec - ISO 400
    Shot distance about 19-20 meters

The juvenile fledged about 3 weeks before and used to rest on its favourite perch many times per day.

A very interesting image Saverio. Nice separation from background and interesting look back pose of bird. Sharp and well exposed. I would like to see a bit more canvas on left.
