    Default Sunset Cranes

Trying to make lemonade from lemons as our Bosque trip met with some very tough weather which caused the birds to alter their typical behavior. Made this image one night while waiting for the Sandhill Cranes to come to the cranepools for the evening. But due to the frozen conditions , all they did was fly over the pools and headed off elsewhere.

    Hi Joe,
This is a very neat effect. can you elaborate on the PP? I love the swirly sky ( Rembrandt colors) but wish the rear crane had a wings down position for symmetry. I really like the diagonal line created by the mountains. Another nice shot,
    Gail

Used the gradient tool in Color Efex to bring out some detail in the lower portion as it otherwise would be just black. Can't controll the wing position. Wish I knew how.

HaHa! I think there is a book out there that is known only to people like Arash and Art and Doug and the other mods and experts on this forum that gives them the secrets to be bird whisperers!

I love the contrast between the warm sky and the cold landscape. Nice photo Joe.

Beautiful shot. Sorry to hear about the lack of birds.

Joe, I like the placement of the cranes, and although two are always better than one, removing the crane that didnt cooperate with his wing position may work. Since the conditions were wintery, I like what you have done to the mountains. Love the colours of the sky too.

I really like this, Joe. Great job pulling out details on the mountains. Just love that painterly sky. This would look great on a wall too.
