Not sure but think this is some type of daisy. Liked the flow to the withering petals. CS5, Topaz Detail, PB oil, hue adjustment and blur on BG

Brendan.... Absolutely beautiful treatment on this Daisy. Love the shallow depth of field and the BG is colorful and complimentary to the flower. Love the details of the flower petals, past its prime. Man, this is great image. Marvelous!

Thanks Jay, wasn't sure about the stem, do you think it needs a bit more detail towards the top?

I missed that...........but now you mention it, a bit would help, you wouldn't need much, the flower is so detailed, I think a transition would be good. Not a show stopper by any means...............

I really like the lines of the flower with those tiny pops of yellow around the center. Plus the subtle mottled background is beautiful in the deep colors. Maybe just a bit more detail in the stem, as mentioned.

    Brendan,

This is great. End of the season, wilted flower, but yet still vibrant! Love the lines. I have tried pics like this, but mine were always drab and ended up as discards. This one really works.

Brendan, the flower may be withering, but it's absolutely beautiful! I love the flow of the petals and your painterly treatment. Beautiful colors too with the yellow against the blue BG. A little more detail in the stem might be nice as mentioned, but I don't think it's necessary. Very well done!

PS. The flower is a Black-Eyed Susan, which is in the daisy family, or a close relative thereof.

This is really lovely, Brendan. I think the stem is fine. I love the bright yellows of the flower against that background - beautiful!

You chose a great perspective when you took the shot and composed the image beautifully afterwards. The center of the seed head is exactly centered on the intersection of a horizontal and vertical divine proportion line. The color and soft focus in the background are both well done. As for the stem, my opinion is that it's clear enough to add a strong diagonal, and that's all that's needed. The great thing about your processing is that it all worked very well together without any of it being excessive.

Brendan, I love the flow of the petals and the processing. I like the stem on a diagonal and might deepen it a touch as it is an interesting element to me. Background colors are amazing! Nice job!
