Default 5d II now ? 5d II later or 5d III when will come ?

Hi i am a bit confused with all this story with the new cameras of the canon , thinking too much but still don't know what to do .
First i wanted to buy the canon 5d mark II , then i show that will be a new canon the 5d III , then they said was about to say what models will be next in the noveber 3 , but still i have no news about what is goin on .

I think is logical canon to give a new 5d III as the other one is 2years old i think , but i think that if i'll buy it now , when the5d III will come out in market the price of the 5d II will fall downfor sure .
TheIdea to buy the new 5d III is not bad for me at all , but don;t knowit comes .

So if u wish tell me what you would at my place .

You would buy the camera now ?
You would wait for the 5d III , so the price of 5d II fall down and buy it ?
Or you would wait for the 5d III and buy it when come in market ?

I hope i havent make many mistakes in English and give you hard time .

    Thanks Kostas

    HI Kostas,
The answer is clear for me: You should buy the 5DII now so that the 5DIII will come out so I can buy a 5DIII

Seriously, a 5DIII might come out next year but if you need 21 megapixels now, the 5DII is a great camera. The canonrumors.com site says a 5DIII will likely be announced in March, but then who knows when it will be available. (Note, canon rumors are usually wrong.) It all depends on how long you want to wait. Another option is to see about a used 5DII and then sell it after you have a 5DIII.

What camera are you now using? And why a 5DII?

Kostos, what camera body are you using now? What are your intended uses for a 5D? Do you intend to make heavy use of video capacities of these cameras? What lenses do you own? That should help us answer.

I don't really care about the video , the last 3 years i use a 50d but many times it's very noisy and i hate that as i like to shot many over the 1600 iso .
for a better stuff stuff from 50d , thats why i was looking in 5d II , i have download raw files of 5d II and the they was so less noisy at iso 1600 and over

That's very helpful. In that case, the 5D2 will certainly satisfy your noise concerns. It's exceptional up to ISO 3200 and very workable at ISO 6400. I own both the 7D and the 5D2. The 7D gets noisy fast if you underexpose, but is very good up to ISO 1600 with proper exposure.

I would warn you that going from the crop sensor to a full-frame sensor is going to give you different perspectives from your lenses. This could be particularly critical to you if you're shooting long telephotos and still cropping your 50D images. You'll have more pixels to start with, but you'll have to crop even more with a 5D2. For focal length limited shooting, I prefer the 7D and almost always use it with my 500mm lens. The 5D2 is stunning for landscapes, portraits, day and night street shooting and just about every thing else.

I see no critical need for you to wait 'til next fall for a 5D3. I suspect that most of the "improvements" will relate to video. Given the 1DX proposed specs, it's hard to guess if we'll get more or less pixels, but I wouldn't be surprised to see less and even better high-ISO performance, but giving up some detail for us croppers. I also suspect that the AF will improve a little, but don't expect it to get the same scheme announced for the 1D-X.

Right now is a great time to buy the 5D mII. B&H and Adorama have it on sale for $1999.

My suggestion is to buy whatever suits you NOW. With cameras having become like whitegoods and electronic goods there will always be something better come out in 3 months or a year. The thing is, what you buy today will serve you just as well in the future and take just as good photos even when a new model is released later on. The only difference being that you won't have the latest model anymore.
