Now that is sure drenched in some late evening light! Very nice details and like the composition.

Nit: Just thinking if it is a little too warm?

    Hi Ian,

A great idea, but it doesn't quite come off for me I'm afraid. Would it have been possible to get higher or lower the camera angle to get the whole reflection in? Also, for me the overall lighting is just a bit too dark, although the evening light type white balance is very nice. The bird is nice and sharp, and I like the concentric water rings going out from the bird.

    Ian,

I agree with the comments above, image looks under exposed (too dark). I assume the histogram is bunched on the left hand side and probably not much detail in the first two stops on the right side of the histogram. It is critical to ensure data is spread in the first stops on the right, they contain about 70% of the tonality in the image. It does look a tad warm to me as well, are you using AWB or a different mode like cloudy or day light.

What is you metering choice, evaluative or spot.
