    Default Fire Without the Mist

A while ago I posted an image of a Crane flying in for the night with just a sliver of light illuminating its eye. That photo got mixed reviews. Here's some more conventional lighting on a similar subject. How does this frame work?

Hi Doug, Good wing position, and since most of the light is on the head, neck, and far wing, it works for in terms of illumination. I do like the sharpness, and overall colours. Comp wise, Im in two minds about the placement, where I would have preferred you maybe move him up in the frame a touch more.

    Hi,

Beautiful lighting, sharp bird, and I like the hint of curved vertical lines in the bg. I would prefer a bit more room on the right for the bird to fly into.

This is a killer image, Doug, and I do much prefer it to the other you refer to here. The lighting is just over the top and you have a gorgeous BG and perfect flight position.

the burning bg feel is amazing and the light angle is just perfect alongside both wings down which makes wall mount .. So

I really like the way the light just skims the upper side of the near wing. Where was this taken? My guess is the north end of the main farm pond.

It was taken from the Flight Deck in the late afternoon Alan.

    Doug:

Very fine, sharp, well exposed, good wing position and angle in the frame. A very 'live' BG without being distracting.
The framing is effective, but I could also see a version with more room on the right.

    Cheers

This is so good it hurts!
Gorgeous BG, and a beautiful in flight pose.
The best, in my opinion, crane you have posted from this season.

    Doug,
Outstanding image, stunning on all levels, The IQ and light are amazing, I like the shadows it created across the backside of the crane. excellent exposure and processing, I hope to make it down there in the next few years!

Very sweet Doug. The image is a bit centered vertically for my eye, I might crop a bit off the top. (Certainly a matter of personal taste tho). I also like the print of yours that is in the visitors' center dated 2009.
