    Taken a couple of weeks ago at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary Irvine, Calif.

    Nikon D300 AFS 600 F4 1.4 TC

    1/1250 F6.3 ISO 320

    This looks like it was shot at the third pond, Jim. I was there on Wednesday and saw a few of them but didn't had as good lighting as you. Nice shot!!

    Very nice headturn and angle, Jim. I'm wondering if desaturating the eye a bit and cropping a little off the top would make it even better.

    Hey Jim, I find these guys really tough to make look appealing when captured and usually end up with something very similar to what you have here. Technicals look good to me and I'm with Axel, crop some of the top to get the birds head and eye off dead center.

    Hi Jim,

    Nice low angle and head turn on this Grebe. Perhaps tone down the brightness of the eye and face area around it. Everything else looks great.
