    Default Snow goose calling out

    Attached Images Attached Images

This image was created in the morning at 8:47am in Bosque del Apache NWR, San Antonio, NM during the Bosque IPT of Arthur Morris. This snow goose was flying by the cornfields on the north loop road.

This image was created with the Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens at 800mm, and the EOS-1DMIV. ISO 400. Evaluative metering: 1/1250 sec. at f/6.3 set manually. Cropped for composition. Hand held. Inspired by Doug Brown and Jim Neiger I tried about an hour shooting hand held, but gave up and went back to the tripod in order to save my back. Need to go to the gym in order to build the upper body! The control for flight tracking is better hand held, but boy it is tough with an 800.

    All comments are welcome.

    Thanks for looking.

I did not know that this one was hand held. Way to go. Killer wing position showing those black primaries and the silver greater primary coverts-my favorite part of a Snow Goose. The curled primaries, the calling pose, and the perfect angle into the bird make this one a winner!

    Clemens:

Very well captured, with excellent exposure, sharpness, pose.

Just enough catchlight to give the eye some interest.

    Soft BG.

    Well done!

    Cheers

You didn't seem to have any problems hand holding the 800 that day Clemens! This image is proof positive! A great flight shot with awesome wing position, a calling pose, and super sharpness. Nice Bosque BG too.
