    Default Roller in evening light

    Hello,
    Was lucky to have got this roller perched up with the setting sun right against it. Was pretty co-operative too.
    The strong cast of the late evening did cause the blues to show up differently, but it seemed to go well with the overall feel/tone of the image

    Canon 450D, Sigma 150-500 @ 500mm, f8, 1/1000, ISO 400, -2/3 EV
    Slightly cropped to avoid a stray swaying branch on the left. A bit of brightness added + USM

    Would love to know your thoughts on this :)

    Cheers,
    Hayath

    Hello Hayath- Very nice image. Beautiful warm light and great surrounding habitat. Bird is sharp and the head angle shows of the face and eye wonderfully. The only thing I might try is a lightly looser crop from above- i.e., give a little more room at the top.

    Hi Hayath,

    The subject is well placed and you did a good job controlling the frame. Simple with a regal pose and beautiful colors. I like the sharp detail with a well lit eye, this is a strong picture. I like bird pictures that show the beauty of the subject and you achieved that goal. Like it as presented and thanks for sharing.

    Thanks much John and Jeff for those kind words and feedback, appreciate it :)

    @John,
    Will revisit the image and see if I had left any room on the top in the initial composition.

    @Jeff,
    Glad this shows the bird with it's typical environ well. Do strive for that, and based on your words - happy I was able to :)

    Cheers,
    Hayath
