    Hi There

Another shot from Gigrin Farm, I have decided to put in hand of man as the kite is showing distinctive wing tags that identify where it was born and in what year. Which in the case of this particular bird was Wales and 2005. Now I could have cloned them out, but I chose to leave them in place, to highlight that despite the bird being wild its identity is known as part of the Red Kite conservation programme.

This particular bird is I believe a hybrid from a "Leucistic" Red kite and a normal partner which gives rise to its part red part white colouration. It's not a true albino as it does not have pink eyes.

(Not being an expert on birds in general, I will stand to be corrected on this but that is my understanding of this particular bird).

More information on the bird that is probably the mother or father of this one can be found here

This is a beautiful bird. My first thought was, "What the heck happened to the color?" but your text explains it all.

My only nit, and it truly is a nit, is that I'd like a bit more canvas on the bottom since the bird is turning in that direction. A little more DoF would have been nice but you've nailed the eyes. Thanks for posting.

I think that everyone looking at this....without reading all the info may wonder about the color. Excellent flight image. At first I thought about more room at the bottom but with the head turned up looking at you, I don't think it's necessary. Interesting as well as to how they tag them. I guess bands are too hard to read. Well done....as always.

Love the image as is, especially the pose and the comp, and the information is very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
